More and more people are becoming overweight these days. This topic is becoming more and more popular; especially, childhood obesity has become a serious problem in recent years. Finding out the reasons that children are obese is important for society.
According to the article"Why are children Becoming Obese?" by David Kraft, there are several reasons for childhood obesity: children's bad eating habits; lack of exercise; genetics and poor sleep style. The author stated that the poor parental role modeling is a larger negative effect on this problem.
I totally agree with the author's opinion. I believe that children's behavior is learn from parents. Since so many parents are overweight,it is not difficult to understand why children are obese nowadays. Just like the author said "It should be no surprise that children of overweight parent grow up and develop bad eating and exercise habits." So I think to solve the problem, parents' education is very important.
I have a part time job at a "All you can eat" restaurant. What i have seen is the customers are all eat too much. Too full to cannot eat! I think it's not a good eating style for health. Some times there are some family parties over there. I saw a lot of kid they always order"chicken finger" "fried chicken wings" or crab rangoon". They are three of the popular "kid meal" in the restaurant , but they are all high calories food that lead to being overweight if they are eaten too much. What's so surprise to me is one time I heard a boy talk to his parents that he was full and he didn't want to eat any more. Otherwise, his mother said " Why? Here is all you can eat,and you should eat more..." I was so shocked at that time, because I know the boy was enough depends on the food that he ordered. I don't why his mother wants him eat more! The idea will send wrong messages to the kid,and lead to bad eat habits.
Conclusion, there are many reasons for children obesity. But I think the parents' modeling and education is play a most important role in this issue. when the babies birth, they don't have bad eat habit; they don't have poor sleep habit. Therefore, before we educate the children we should educate their parents first.
