How to choose a Major
Choosing a major for me is very difficult because at first I have no idea about the major titles. So choosing a college major is an interesting process for me, and I do some research about how to choose a major. Generally, there are four steps to make the process. I believe that this is a useful process to choose the right major for everyone.
The first step is understand yourself. That means you should make sure what you like, and what you are good at. Make a clearer life goal and what kind of job you would like to do.
The second step is search about the classes, subjects, which interesting to you, and also mention what you are good at. You look at all majors that are available and make a list of majors. During this time you are facing many options. You will confuse which major is match for you. So you need to go to next step
The third step is putting together the information that you made. Do some research about each major that you wrote on the list. Such as credits requirement, transfer information etc. Now depending on your personal ability, you can compare the possible solutions of each majors. After that you will select one to three major from the list. Then you can meet with the academic adviser to discuss your choice and ask more detail about admission requirements for the major that you selected. You still can meet the students who are studying in the class that you selected. You can ask them about the major and how difficult it is. The students’ opinions are very important for you.
The fourth and last step in the process is to make a decision. After the three steps above, you have done general analysis already. Compare the possible solution and your personal situation. It is time to select the one major and applying for it.
That is the whole process; I believe that by using the process can let you make a right decision for choosing a major which is match for you. Choosing a right majoy is extremely significant step for college study and the path you will work for.
