Actually, I was so surprised about this job after reading this article. Firstly, I was thinking CEO is a very comfortable job. They are the boss they have a pretty secretary. But Robert said that he is often working eighteen hours a day and usually seven days a week. What kind of job it is! Secondly, I was thinking CEO has long vacation and they have much free time with their families. Yet Robert said that he does not have enough time to stay with his family. One day he told his two sons what his father had told him—you can be successful at a lot of different things. Robert is not only teaching his sons how to be successful but also making the excuse why he works outside instead of staying with his family. Finally, I thought people worked up to the CEO are of course working for the money. However, Robert said, the biggest satisfaction for him is not the money. He enjoys the challenge. That’s really what that keeps him going. His story made me rethink the meaning of work. In different phases of work, we have different purpose. We are not just going after money. We can enjoy the work like Robert. We can achieve and improve our self-worth during work. This issue is worth thinking about.
